The Twelfth Workshop on Information and Statistics in Nuclear
Experiment and Theory (ISNET-12, https://conferences.lbl.gov/
event/2526/ ) will be held October 6-9, 2026 in Berkeley.
The ISNET series (https://isnet-series.github.io/meetings/ ) seeks to
advance the interfaces between domain knowledge from the nuclear
physics theory and experiment research community and expertise in
cognate fields of research and practice, including statistics,
mathematics, and computer science. ISNET programs are highly curated
to encourage, facilitate, and develop the use of statistical and
computational methodologies that maximize the knowledge gained from
and quantify uncertainties in nuclear physics measurements and
theoretical calculations, and beyond.
ISNET-12 will have a single-track, in-person format featuring invited
talks, ample discussion periods, and opportunities for contributed
lightning/poster presentations.

SAVE THE DATE
The Mid-Atlantic NA Day 2026 will take place at Temple University,
Philadelphia, on Friday 13 November 2026.
The purpose of this one-day meeting is to provide a forum for Graduate
Students and Postdoctoral Fellows, i.e., researchers and practitioners
at the very beginning of their careers, from the Mid-Atlantic region,
to exchange ideas in numerical analysis, scientific computing,
computational mathematics, and related application areas. More
established scientists are encouraged to attend as well. Talks start
at 10 AM to facilitate same-day travel.
Keynote speaker: Cameron Musco, U. of Massachussets at Amherst.
Please encourage your students and postdocs to attend (or yourself you
are a postdoc).
Abstract submission deadline is 16 October 2026. There will be no

(ACDA)

The SIAM Activity Group on Applied & Computational Discrete Algorithms
(ACDA), will be held in Pittsburgh, PA, USA, on February 22-24,
2027. ACDA26 brings together researchers who design and study
combinatorial and graph algorithms motivated by applications. ACDA27
includes in its scope all topics where models and algorithms from
discrete mathematics are applied to solve problems in computer
science, scientific computing, data science, physical sciences, life
sciences, engineering, social and information sciences, etc. ACDA27
invites papers on the formulation of combinatorial problems from
applications; theoretical analyses; design of algorithms;
computational evaluation of the algorithms; and deployment of the
resulting software to enable applications.
ACDA27 will include refereed proceedings as well as talks without
proceedings papers (in the conventional SIAM style of conferences),
posters, tutorials, invited talks, and industry sessions. Awards will
be given for best paper, best poster, and best student presentation.

The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS)
is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB
comprises seven non-university research institutes in Berlin which are
funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes
belong to the Leibniz Association.
WIAS invites applications for a PhD student position (f/m/d)
(Ref. 26/20) in the Weierstrass Group “Energy-Variational Methods for
Innovative Materials (EnVarMIM)” (Head: PD Dr. R. Lasarzik) to be
filled at the earliest possible date.
The position is associated to the project “Analysis of
energy-variational solutions for hyperbolic conservation laws”, which
is part of the SPP 2410 “Hyperbolic Balance Laws in Fluid Mechanics:
Complexity, Scales, Randomness”. While hyperbolic conservation laws
are ubiquitous in the modeling of fluid- dynamical processes,
fundamental analytic question remain open until today. In this
project, a novel solution concept for such equations, which is founded
on energetic considerations and variational methods, is studied. The
project aims at the derivation of new existence results for
deterministic and stochastic partial differential equations, and the
numerical analysis of associated constructive approximation schemes.
The position is hosted in the Weierstrass Group “Energy-Variational
Methods for Innovative Materials (EnVarMIM)”. The project is a
collaboration between PD Dr. Robert Lasarzik from this group, and
Dr. Thomas Eiter from Research Group “Partial Differential
Equations”. In this team, we are going to approach the above research
plan together with the PhD student.
We are looking for: Candidates with a master’s degree in mathematics
or a closely related field with a strong background in at least one of
the following fields: analysis of partial differential equations,
calculus of variations, functional analysis.
Prior knowledge in mathematical fluid mechanics, stochastic analysis,
numerical analysis, geometrical measure theory, or nonlinear
optimization is beneficial.
