Subject: New software: mip, a package manager for MATLAB + MEX

MATLAB is a great language for numerical analysis research, but many
of the MATLAB packages this community relies on come with some
caveats: directories that need to be manually added to the search
path, MEX files that need to be compiled locally, and dependencies
that need to be satisfied.

We are pleased to announce the first release of mip (https://mip.sh),
a package manager for MATLAB that makes installing such packages a
one-line operation:

>> mip install chebfun
>> mip load chebfun

What mip does:

- Automatic path management: load and unload packages instead of
manually editing the global path.
- Pre-compiled MEX binaries: packages with C/C++/Fortran ship
pre-built binaries on Linux, Mac, and Windows. There is no compiler
or toolchain to set up.
- Dependency resolution: package dependencies are installed and loaded
in the right order.

The default channel includes many popular numerical analysis packages,
and anyone can host their own channel.

mip is pure MATLAB and open source. Documentation and the full command
reference are at https://mip.sh.
