Subject: New Book, Incentive-Based Control via Game Theory
Incentive-Based Control via Game Theory by Dario Bauso and Tamer Başar
Engineering systems in the new economy are increasingly shaped by sharing—
shared logistics, joint investments, virtual power plants, and more—a shift that
calls for models that capture decentralized decision making, resource pooling,
and cooperative infrastructure. Across production, transportation, logistics, and
energy, a central challenge is modeling and optimizing collective actions. This
book aims to bridge game theory and systems and control by developing tools
for incentive-based control in dynamic, uncertain, and networked multiagent
systems; it extends both cooperative and noncooperative game models into a
control-oriented framework, emphasizing feedback, learning, and decision
making under uncertainty.
Incentive-Based Control via Game Theory stands apart from existing literature by
offering a design-oriented approach that focuses on using game theory to design
mechanisms and control strategies that guide self-interested agents toward
stable and socially desirable outcomes in dynamic, uncertain systems. It also
includes novel engineering-focused content that introduces advanced topics
rarely covered in game theory and engineering texts, including dynamic
coalitional games, reverse Stackelberg games, and rigorously analyzed best-
response dynamics. Additionally, it provides an application-driven perspective
that combines mathematical rigor with real-world engineering applications,
showing how theory translates into practical implementation.

Subject: Mimetic Operators Library Enhanced (MOLE) Tutorial, 12 May
The Computation Science Research Center (CSRC) at San Diego State
University invites you to: A Tutorial on The Mimetic Operators
Library Enhanced (MOLE) May 12, 2026 from 10 AM to 12:00 PM. PDT.
MOLE is a high-quality numerical library that implements high-order
mimetic difference operators to solve PDEs in C++ and MATLAB/Octave.
It provides discrete analogs of the most common vector calculus
operators: Gradient, Divergence, Laplacian, and Curl. These operators
(highly sparse matrices) act on staggered grids (uniform, non-uniform,
curvilinear) and preserve locally and globally quantities of interests
for systems of conservation laws.
This tutorial will cover an introduction to MOLE mimetic difference
operators; gradient, divergence, laplacian and curl for C++ and Octave/MATLAB
users. Attendants will learn how to use the MOLE library
through examples, and also review the installation and guidelines to
contribute to the MOLE library. Please, read the Getting Started
Section in mole-docs.readthedocs.io/ and install or clone the MOLE
library. Installation support will be provided 90-minutes prior to
the beginning of the tutorial.
The tutorial is free and will be held in person at SDSU’s Bioscience
Center Auditorium on May 12, 2026 from 10 AM to 12:00 PM U.S. PT, and
also online. To register for the tutorial in person or online, please
fill out this form: https://forms.gle/7KZ8t3zCUxu7f6vB7.
