Workshop on Approximate Computing in Numerical (Multi-)Linear Algebra
will be held from 31 August to 2 September 2026 in Magdeburg, Germany.
The goal of this workshop is to bring experts on analysis, application
and implementation of inexact numerical linear and multi-linear
algebra algorithms. The topics include: low-rank approximations,
reduced/mixed precision computations, randomization, and communication

An opening for a post-doctoral fellow is anticipated in Dr. Protas'
research group at McMaster University with a start date of August 1,
2026. The focus of this position will be fundamental investigations of
extreme behavior, such as potential singularity formation, in fluid
flow models using a combination of mathematical analysis and
large-scale computations. Expected background includes (ideally, a
combination of) PDE analysis, large-scale scientific computing

The Department of Numerical Mathematics at Faculty of Mathematics and
Physics at Charles University invites applicants for a 1-year postdoctoral
researcher positions (with expectation of further extension) in numerical linear
algebra, preconditioning and domain decomposition methods. The position is
fully funded by the Primus research project "Divide, Conquer and Optimize".
The project involves exploring, analyzing and implementing (i) computational
techniques that are novel within the landscape of domain decomposition
methods, such as mixed precision computations and hierarchical matrix formats,
and (ii) analysis of new and existing iterative solvers (or preconditioners) relating
to domain decomposition methods and Krylov subspace methods.
Our new team member should have a PhD in applied mathematics, computer
science, physics or a related field with a strong background in one of the
following areas: domain decomposition methods, PML or ABC
transmission/interface conditions, hierarchical matrix formats, mixed precision
computations or preconditioning of Krylov subspace methods. We will make an
effort to accommodate the candidates established research directions within the
framework of the project.
The position is open from March 1st, 2026 but the starting date is very much
negotiable. The position will stay open until filled but for full consideration the
