Subject: Call for submissions, Int. Workshop on Algorithmic Optimization, Sept. 2025

The research training group Algorithmic Optimization (ALOP) at Trier University
is in its ninth and final year and we are excited to host our last international
workshop on algorithmic optimization under the roof of ALOP. After seven
successful international workshops and eight autumn schools, this event marks
a special opportunity to bring together researchers from across the field and to
offer perspectives on its future evolution.

The workshop will feature a dynamic program, including invited plenary talks,
contributed talks, an engaging session with elevator pitches, and a lively poster
session. Covering the full spectrum of algorithmic optimization, the topics will
range from mixed-integer programming to optimization with differential
equations, from applications in the energy sector to advancements in machine
learning and data science, as well as from foundational theory to cutting-edge
algorithmic developments.

The workshop dates are September 23 (9:00) to September 26 (17:00), 2025.

The list of all invited speakers, all other relevant information, and the
registration form can be found at

https://alop.uni-trier.de/event/international-workshop-on-algorithmic-
optimization.

We hope to see as many of you as possible in September in Trier. If you have
any further questions regarding the workshop, please do not hesitate to ask us.

With kind regards,
the ALOP team

Subject: Postdoc position in Bayesian inference for brain simulation at BCAM, Bilbao

The Basque Center for Applied Mathematics is hiring a
Postdoctoral fellow for an initial duration of one year,
renewable for an additional year based on satisfactory
performance. The starting date is currently set at September
2025, but it is flexible.

The fellow will enter BCAM under the supervision of
Matteo Croci and Judit Muñoz-Matute.

The position is funded by a grant from the Spanish
Ministry for Science and Innovation. The ultimate
objective of the wider research project is to perform
infinite-dimensional Bayesian inversion to characterise the
velocity field of the 3D partial differential equations
describing brain fluid and solute movement. The candidate
will be free to choose how to focus their efforts within this
goal, whether in terms of theoretical, methodological, or
applied research contributions.
