The NIST Information Technology Laboratory anticipates filling one or
more positions within its Applied and Computational Mathematics
Division (ACMD) during the coming year to research and develop
techniques and tools for multiscale modeling and uncertainty
quantification in response to the federal Materials Genome Initiative

time for materials discovery, optimization, and deployment through the
promotion of a new R&D paradigm in which computational modeling,

A PhD position in the research project "Stochastic models for
unresolved scales in geophysical flows" is available at the Centrum

In this project we will develop a new, stochastic methodology for the
representation of subgrid scales in ocean models. The project lies at
the intersection of applied mathematics and ocean modeling, involving
the development of new mathematical ideas on stochastic-deterministic
models for multiscale systems and their application in numerical
models of oceanic flow.
The project will take place in the research group “Computational and
Stochastic Dynamics” at CWI. In this group, stochastic methods for
geophysical fluid dynamics is an expanding research topic.
